Ladbrokes betting group showed that its group revenues have slumped 7% in April in a financial report covering the first four months of the year, saying that bad weather affected punters heading out of their homes in the UK to place bets in January. The bookie also said that it had experienced a “six figure loss” on the hung parliament result in the past general elections. Nevertheless, Ladbrokes said it was positive that things were picking up and that the World Cup would provide the group, as well as the entire gambling industry, with some wonderful opportunities.
The new CEO for Ladbrokes, Richard Glynn spoke of his plans for the company and said: “In recent times the strength of our brand has diminished. In online and offline areas, we feel the need for Ladbrokes to regain its primacy. We will be looking at every area of the business. We will be leaving no stone unturned.”
