First Online Casino Exits German Market Due to Ban PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, February 19, 2008

GetMinted.com, the popular online casino, has announced that due to the changes in German legislation pertaining to internet gambling, it has no choice but to close its doors to German players. GetMinted.com will thus exit the market as early as next month. All players who are registered from Germany were informed that as from March 1st, 2008, their accounts would be suspended, although a game play suspension has already gone into immediate affect. Players have until March to withdraw their funds.

In an email to their German customers, GetMinted.com said that it regretted the decision and would keep a sharp eye on the situation. It assured them that should there be an opportunity to open these accounts once again in the future, it would certainly allow it. Germany has recently come under intense pressure from the European Commission to reverse its decision to ban internet gambling, in what is seen as a blatant rebuttal of European Union free trade laws.
